Jamie Lynn Spears: Epic Role Model

Posted on 10 July 2008 by LJ

Nothing says class like the Spears family and they proved that by making Jamie Lynn Spears an epic role model for teen girls everywhere.

In the latest edition of OK! Weekly Magazine Jamie Lynn Spears was pictured with her brand new baby on the cover with the caption “Jamie Lynn’s Baby Maddie! Being a mom is the best feeling in the world!” Now, even though exploding children for your career is always kind of a no no in my book, I understand that we all want to see the celeb babies and that it can really lend some humanity to most stars. But doing this when you are 17 years old? I don’t think so.

See, what’s going on here is a 17 year old girl who through the lifestyle and life lessons given to her by her lovely Spears family members thought she was immortal and had unprotected sex (or she was just 1 of the unlucky 0.0.1% of girls who use birth control and a condom and just had sex for the very first time, yeah right) and got pregnant at 16 years old. I find it odd, though she’s a Spears so maybe I shouldn’t, that she thinks it’s cool to be on the cover of a magazine with her baby.

It’s like saying “Hey girls, you really look up to me because I have my own TV show, but look what happens when you have a baby? You look great and you get on magazine covers and your baby sleeps all the time and you make a boat load of money. Take it from me, Zoey, do it.” Okay that’s a little harsh. But when you are just a kid and little girls DO look up to you, though who knows why, maybe you should be a little more responsible, eh?

The end.

Great. now all 17yo girls will think ‘hey look at that, thats a great idea, lets all get pregnant and be just like her’. its a disgrace. Jamie Lynn only gets off with it cause she’s earning a fortune selling it. other 17yo girls will end up on the dole living in council houses. Thats it, encourage it, cause yet more strain on the economy and take homes away from intelligent folk who are mature enough to understand the consequences of children but have hit hard times and are not just having babies because everyone else is. stupid stupid stupid people

“she was immortal and had unprotected sex”

Um. I’m guessing you meant immoral?

  3. LJ Says:

You’d be guessing wrong. The implication here is that teenagers think they can’t get hurt, they can’t die and they can’t get pregnant when they have sex. Sure depending on your views on morality you could say she was immoral as well, just like 80% of the world. But what I meant to say was what I did say, which was, immortal.

  4. Dr. Acula Says:

Oh snap LJ! Look, immoral or immortal, it doesn’t really matter which word we use here. Sure, replacing immortal with immoral makes absolutely no sense in the original context, but still I see where kirsten was going with this. I think she made an exceptional point in that having unprotected sex is a huge gamble or a “guess” at an unpredictable outcome. And if its not illegal yet, the it should be illegal that any promotion of underaged gambling needs to be brought to a halt. This publisher should have acted more responisbly when they chose Jamie Lynn as their poster girl for teenage girls idols. The smug smile that Jamie Lynn is flashing at us tells us she doesn;t care about the risks. If you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen. Young girls…turn that oven off…trust me you don’t want that bread! This magazine should do something productive like offer ads with free colorful contraceptives that will allow kids to have the only kind of sex they should be having. We got the message Kirsten, don’t guess your life away. Do it and do it safe.

I concur Dr. Acula. This is, just another form of illegal underage gambling.

Well, i am very happy for jamie lynn spears, yeah she did have her baby young but it doesnt matter aslong as her and the baby are healthy, its so ennoying how people are like oh my god, jamie had a baby at 16, its like go and get over yourself, yeh she is 16 so what, she enjoys being a mum and the baby is healthy so thats what really matters not what age she had the baby at,
    Congratulations Jamie

  7. LJ Says:

You’re right Charlotte, what was I thinking? There’s nothing wrong with 14, 15 and 16 year olds having unprotected sex resulting in living, breathing babies who not only need to constantly be taken care of but should have the honor of having healthy (I’m talking mental health here Char and that doesn’t exactly run in the Spears family) parents. I’m not talking old fashion mom and dad, I’m talking single mom, single dad, two mommies, two daddies, I don’t care what kind of family it is as long as it truly is mature mentally healthy one. That’s my ideal. But sure, go ahead and tell your own kids, nieces, nephews, sisters, brothers, grandkids, or hell, even some random teens at the local Jr. High that it’s okay to be reckless with their bodies, as long as they have fun being mums, that’s all that matters. The rate of 14 year old girls having babies is already skyrocketing, and thinking like yours is just helping that cause. THAT is what is “ennoying”. Congratulations Char.
