Just after her release from Cedars-Sinai Hospital this weekend Dr. Phil assessed Britney Spears.

Apparently while Britney Spears was packing to go home after being released as the staff decided she wasn’t a threat to herself or others, Dr. Phil McGraw came in her room to talk out the issues, as he does so well. The problem? Britney didn’t know he was coming, didn’t consent to the visit and didn’t want to talk to him.

According to MTV.com Dr. Phil was just doing this as a favor to her family. I guess he talked to Britney’s mom, Lynne Spears, and her siblings and got their consent. He’s saying they called him Which actually doesn’t make any sense. Trust me, I’ve been in therapy (which obviously didn’t take) and I’m pretty sure he broke some patient/therapist boundaries, especially considering that she’s not even his patient.

Here’s what MTV had to say, “On Monday morning (January 7), McGraw appeared on CBS’ ‘Early Show’ to refute widespread speculation of his motives. Some have accused McGraw of exploiting Spears’ situation for the purposes of self-promotion, considering the fact that he held a brief press conference following his 15-minute visit and plans to air a special episode about Spears on his syndicated talk show Tuesday.”

Dr. Phil issued a statement today saying, “Because the Spears situation is too intense at this time, and out of consideration to the family, I have made the decision not to move forward with the taping at this particular time.” Too intense? Ya think? I thought you’d be more sensitive to that fact after she held her own kids hostage.

Look, I love Dr. Phil, his TV sessions have helped get me through some hard times. And also I really do agree that Britney Spears needs to get help. I hope that she does and that she gets healthy and gets her kids back. But dude, Dr. Phil, don’t call us, we’ll call you.
