Chris Benoit and Family Found Dead

Pro wrestler and WWE star Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their home Monday in an apparent murder-suicide.
Not many details are being given until the coroner thoroughly examines cause and time of death, but sources say it appears that Benoit’s wife Nancy was strangled, his 7 year old son was smothered and Chris Benoit possibly hung himself over the weekend.
While the WWE claims they do have more information they’ve been instructed by investigators not to comment on those details, however they did make statements that as late as Sunday during the PPV “Vengeance” program, Benoit was texting friends.
“Chris was the type of guy you’d want to go to war with,” said surprisingly compassionate WWE champ John Cena. “He was a good man, he truly lived for the business. He did everything for it.”
I know one WWE fan who is going to find it a bit harder to sleep tonight. Our thoughts go out to their family and friends.

I’m not sure if its possible to encapsulate the entire meaning and worth of any human, by one action, even if that action is so ignominious, it stigmatizes the individual. I believe that these kinds of bizarre occurrences are beyond rational comprehension for the most part, and leaves the public grasping for reasonable explanations. I have read various post concerning Chris Benoit, and what seems to offend people the most is the filicide involved in this case. My impression in cases similar to this one, is that the individual usually is in a severe manic or psychotic state, NIMH reported that mental illness is a factor in 10 to 15 percent of violence, including homicide.Chris Benoit might have just mask his illness well enough to precipitate his own demise. Why do basically good people do bad things, incredibly heinous malevolent actions? From what material I have read concerning his relationship with his son, people who were close to the Benoit family, reported that he absolutely loved, adored and idealized him. I don’t believe any father who fits Chris Benoit’s personality traits could casually murder his son unless at the time of the murder he was mentally incapacitated. Either he was a viciously cruel human being or something was going on emotionally that was kept inconspicuous.

I agree with your assessment William. That’s why I tried to stay away from any judgmental comments and finger pointing. It’s a tragedy and no one knows the whole truth. Thanks for commenting.
