Jennifer Love Hewitt Isn’t a Fatty

Jennifer Love Hewitt Isn't a Fatty

Jennifer Love Hewitt isn’t a fatty anymore because she recently lost 18 pounds.

Okay, actually, I never thought Jennifer Love Hewitt was fat. I think she’s beautiful and curvy and a real woman. Six months ago when all the magazines and celebrities were calling her fat it really pissed me off that they were attacking a normal girl who isn’t a stick but who certainly isn’t fat.

I was proud of her because instead of slinking down into the darkness and becoming a skeleton Jennifer stood up for herself saying things lik, “To set the record straight, I’m not upset for me, but for all of the girls out there that are struggling with their body image.” And, “A size 2 is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size 0 doesn’t make you beautiful. … To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini – put it on and stay strong.”

Recently though Jennifer sat down with Health Magazine to talk about her recent 18 pound weight loss. Is it a crime to lose weight? Of course not, good for her that she is trying to get more healthy. The thing is though, it’s almost like she doesn’t believe in what she used to say and she’s kind of sending the message, “You have to be a size 0 to be happy and beautiful.”

Honestly, if something like that had happened to me, even on a much smaller scale I would probably give in too. So on the one hand it’s like you have to be proud of her and give her a hand for a lifestyle change and on the other it’s sad because they got her. They got what they wanted. They (media) humiliated someone about their weight and no matter how hard she tried to stay proud and strong in the end she decided she had to lose weight.

Anyway, Jennifer Love Hewitt looks great (as always) and she’s training for a marathon so props to her on that.

The Kirstie Alley Diet

Filed under: Entertainment, Fitness • Comments: None

The Kirstie Alley Diet

Are you tired of being over weight? Is it embarrassing to try and walk up a flight of stairs wheezing and gasping for breath? Well have I got the diet* for you! The Kirstie Alley Diet for those of us who love to yo-yo.

While my commercial-like opening is a joke, the fact that Kirstie Ally built her own diet program is no joke.  I guess Kirstie Alley was fired as the spokes woman for Jenny Craig (I’ll give you 3 guesses why) so Kirstie decided to develop her own weight loss brand. Yeah, like I’m going to trust anything weight loss related that came from someone who did a whole television show called “Fat Actress”.

According to MSN TV, “Alley, 57, told People that while her experience with Jenny Craig was ‘extraordinary,’ she wants ‘to create something new that will help millions of people end the seemingly never ending fatty-roller coaster ride.’”

My guess is this Kirstie Alley Diet will cost a pretty penny and that you can only join if you promise to get your lifetime pass to Scientoloty-R-Us. Because, you know, she’s a scientologist and they’ll do almost anything to sucker people in there.

No but seriously, I hope this diet thing works out and that Kirstie Alley loses weight and shuts up about fatness already. Most of us in America are fat . . . we don’t want to talk about it anymore.  She is sexy though . . . remember Kirstie Alley on “Cheers”?! Come on people!

*Though I used the word “diet” I don’t actually believe they exist. It’s like a unicorn, good idea but there’s no way it’s real or really works.

New Year Resolutions 2008

Filed under: Fitness • Comments: None

Weight Loss Resolution

The new year is always a time for renewal, planning, change, growth and resolutions. And what is almost everyone’s main goal? Lose weight, or get healthy. Mine are no different my friends. I guess the first day of the year is as good a time as any to focus on change, but I say make your goals and start them NOW (or you know, any day, any time of year)!

What have I done to get a jump start on my resolution? I bought 3 things that are really going to get me ready and going. Contrary to popular belief I’m not a filthy rich gal, but I was able to buy these things because I got such a great deal!

Top 5 New Years Resolution Helpers

  1. Get this Stainless Steel Electronic Scale from Sur La Table, my favorite cooking store. It’s only $39.95. Because it’s stainless steel the platform resists stains and won’t transfer flavors from any of the food you weigh. And, it can weight up to 5 pounds. This is a great way to keep your portions and your waistline in check.
  2. For the girls, check out Skinny Bitch from BarnesandNoble.com. It’s a “No-Nonsense, Tough-Love Guide for Savvy Girls Who Want to Stop Eating Crap and Start Looking Fabulous.” It really is a good read.
  3. For the guys, pick up The U.S. Navy SEAL Guide to Fitness and Nutrition. If you ever wanted the body of an Army/Navy/Marine man, the kind of body the ladies go crazy for here’s your chance. Get it at BarnesandNoble.com with advice from the Navy SEAL’s themselves.
  4. The Salad Blaster Bowl is the coolest little low-tech gadget from The Container Store. Want a salad or veggies for lunch? Put them in this 26 oz container. In the domed lid, there is two ounce compartment for salad dressing. When you’re ready to eat, press down on the top to “blast” your salad with the dressing. Shake the container, remove the lid and enjoy! Keeps your greens from getting soggy.
  5. This one I’m never going to stop peddling. Nike+iPod Sport Kit from Finish Line. I can’t stress enough how awesome and motivating this little gadget it. Just stick it in your shoe, plug it into your iPod Nano, pick your mix and get motivated for your run or walk.

Give these 5 great items a try and you will totally get your New Year Resolution goals met in 2008!

Nike ID

Filed under: Fitness • Comments: None

I have discovered the coolest thing called the Nike ID. Basically it’s this chip you stick in your running shoe and connect the small transmitter to your iPod Nano and it tracks everything; page, average pace, distance, time and calories. You even pick your own play list and when you get tired just press the middle button for your “Power Song” to boost your energy.

After each run you connect your iPod to your computer and it automatically updates to the Nike ID site. This site tracks all ofNike ID Shoe your progress and shows it various ways with bar graphs. As for your feet, go with the Nike ID shoe, called Nike+, because it has an indentation under the insert that fits the chip perfectly so you can’t even feel it when you run. I just got the basic Nike+ shoes as I needed new running shoes anyway and not only is it cool because of the Nike ID add on, but it’s also a great fit, comfortable and stable.

Check out Nike+ shoes!

Since I’m a beginner this is the perfect motivator for me. I can see my progress since February when I got the Nike ID. In March I ran twice as often and twice as far as I did in February and in April I’ve run even more. It’s really cool to be able to just log on to a Nike ID site and look at how far I’ve come in just 3 months.

If you are trying to get into walking/running, or if you are already avid in the sport and need something to track your progress I strongly recommend the Nike ID. It rules!
