Benazir Bhutto Assassinated
Posted on 28 December 2007 by LJ

I usually try not to get too serious on my blog but something happened yesterday that not only shook Pakistan to its core, but also shook the World.
Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto was assassinated yesterday in Rawalpindi. They are suspecting it could have been her own body guards. She was the first Prime Minister of Pakistan or any Islamic nation and had managed to narrowly escape dozens of attempts on her life until now.
What’s more, she was shot in her car, waving to the people who loved and appreciated her while leaving a “we want peace and our rights” showdown with shady President Pervez Musharraf. Then either the gunman or his partner blew himself up along with 20 other innocent bystanders.
She was laid to rest in her family’s ancestral graveyard this morning with hundreds of thousands of mourners giving their heart broken and emotional condolences.
Benazir Bhutto has really done a lot for her country, her people and especially the women of Pakistan. My hope is that this doesn’t deter the Pakistani people from fighting for their rights. And so does Bush. . .in one of the more intelligent things he’s ever said, “”We stand with the people of Pakistan in their struggle against the forces of terror and extremism. We urge them to honor Benazir Bhutto’s memory by continuing with the democratic process for which she so bravely gave her life.”
Rest in peace Bhutto.

I can’t believe that she was assassinated by a 15-year-old! What a shock! This is a crazy part of the world, and we are going to have to reassess our handling of such situations. I have spoken with several people from the middle east, and they all say that she was assassinated because it would be a major blow to the Americans. What are we doing wrong?
