Nike ID

Filed under: Fitness • Comments: None

I have discovered the coolest thing called the Nike ID. Basically it’s this chip you stick in your running shoe and connect the small transmitter to your iPod Nano and it tracks everything; page, average pace, distance, time and calories. You even pick your own play list and when you get tired just press the middle button for your “Power Song” to boost your energy.

After each run you connect your iPod to your computer and it automatically updates to the Nike ID site. This site tracks all ofNike ID Shoe your progress and shows it various ways with bar graphs. As for your feet, go with the Nike ID shoe, called Nike+, because it has an indentation under the insert that fits the chip perfectly so you can’t even feel it when you run. I just got the basic Nike+ shoes as I needed new running shoes anyway and not only is it cool because of the Nike ID add on, but it’s also a great fit, comfortable and stable.

Check out Nike+ shoes!

Since I’m a beginner this is the perfect motivator for me. I can see my progress since February when I got the Nike ID. In March I ran twice as often and twice as far as I did in February and in April I’ve run even more. It’s really cool to be able to just log on to a Nike ID site and look at how far I’ve come in just 3 months.

If you are trying to get into walking/running, or if you are already avid in the sport and need something to track your progress I strongly recommend the Nike ID. It rules!

Yawn

Filed under: Misc. • Comments: None

It was so hot in my house that I could not sleep last night. So it pretty much goes without saying that by the time morning came, I couldn’t wake up either. On mornings like these there is nothing better than going to a local coffee shop, or gigantic coffee chain, for a little wake up call.Dulce de Leche

Now I don’t know if anyone else has ever heard of this but Starbucks just came out with a delightful treat called Dulce de Leche, so I decided to try it. Surprise! Not to toot the horn of this big evil giant but it was the perfect blend of coffee, milk and caramel; just the right amount of sweetness. It’s so rich that I’m still sipping on it.

What a way to make a bleak tired day down go smooth!

Picture perfect

Filed under: Misc. • Comments: 1

Have you ever heard that saying “that’s as pretty as a picture”? I live in a place with an abundance of mountains. Today I went for a drive and could see the mountains the whole time. They were amazing, big, and colorful. I found myself thinking “Wow that looks like a painting.” That got me to thinking: how come when people see something real and beautiful it’s common to say it looks like a picture and when we see an equally breathtaking painting it’s easy to think that it looks so real. Are we just running out of clever similes?

Real things look as good as pictures and pictures are soo good they look real. It gets my mind confused. Is the real object the amazing creation or is the picture or painting of it the miracle? Why is it so hard to look at something beautiful, strange or unique and simply say “Hey, I’m glad that’s real. I’m glad I got to see it.” Personally I think my little mind can’t understand how something in this crazy world can look so great so I tell myself it’s as pretty as something that is not real. I think instead of dwelling on things and a reality that can get very scary, we need to remind ourselves that there are amazing things in this screwed up world.

It’s just a thought I had…who knows where thoughts come from; they just appear.

Your mom called…

Filed under: Misc. • Comments: None

…she said you’d better read this blog.

Well I have to give props to my boys Razzle and Frock for helping me get started with this fabulous blog. Oh you didn’t know? That’s right, it’s fabulous.

Now, onto something more serious. I saw something today that confused my basic knowledge of right and wrong. It was a mini beauty pageant at a mall that was thrown together in 2 hours. They grabbed 4 very tall, sickly thin, long haired women and one shorter, curvier woman from their shopping to parade around in this pageant.

First they all learned and performed a very awkward hip-hop dance. Next they graced us with their presence in bikinis. I must say I never knew stick thin bodies could jiggle so much, and not in a good way. Surprise, surprise, the short curvy girl was actually toned and a non-jiggler. After this sad display we were left with the talent competition. But was it a competition? One girl tried to rap, another taught a man how to say “I love you” in foreign languages, someone did improve (or not), the fourth sang “If you’re happy and you know it…” Our favorite short, curvy girl belly danced. It was amazing to watch, you know, talent at a talent show.

Are you were waiting for a surprise ending because there isn’t one. If you haven’t guessed by now Miss Short and Curvy won the mini mall beauty pageant. I’ve never been so proud of a group of nameless, faceless judges chosen at random while shopping in a mall.
